Privacy policy
Effective 28 September 2026 (revised the same day). Applies to the BouncePod Android app (package io.bouncepod) and the bouncepod.io service.
The short version: there are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. To skip sponsor segments, the app sends the transcript text of the episode you are playing to our servers. We keep the detection results, not your listening history.
What the app does on your phone
BouncePod is a podcast player. Your subscriptions, downloads, queue, playback positions and settings live on your phone. Podcast feeds and audio files are fetched directly from the podcast's own hosting servers, exactly as any podcast app does; those hosts see your IP address and the file you requested, and their own privacy policies apply. BouncePod does not add any tracking of its own to those requests.
Speech recognition runs on your phone. The audio of an episode never leaves your device.
What is sent to our servers, and why

Transcript pieces are analysed by an AI model. Part of that analysis is performed by a third-party inference provider under contract with us; it receives the transcript text only, with no account or device identifier, and is not permitted to use it for any other purpose.
What we never do
- No account, email address or name is required to use the app. We do not know who you are.
- We do not sell, rent or share data with advertisers or data brokers. There are no ads in BouncePod.
- We do not build a listening history. Detection results are stored by episode, not by person.
- We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- Audio never leaves your phone.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play. Google handles payment details; we never see your card or bank information. Google's privacy policy applies to the purchase itself. You can cancel any time from your Google Play subscriptions page.
Where data is processed
Our servers run on Cloudflare's global network and process requests in the location nearest to you. Subscription and usage records are stored in the United States; per-episode transcript text and results are stored on Cloudflare's network, normally in North America, and may be cached in other regions. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal basis for processing transcript text is performance of the service you asked for (skipping sponsor segments); for logs and usage counts it is our legitimate interest in running the service securely.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off "Block ads" in Settings and no transcript text is sent to our servers. Subscribers' apps still confirm the subscription with Google Play and our server when the app starts.
- Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your phone.
- Because we hold no identifier for you, we cannot look up "your" data on request. Detection results are not personal data. Usage counts are keyed by a hashed purchase token; we also keep a hash of your Google Play order number, so you can ask us to delete those records by writing to the address below with the order number from your Google Play receipt.
- Where local law gives you rights of access, correction, deletion or portability, you can exercise them at the same address.
Children
BouncePod is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above changes and the app's About screen links to the new version. Older versions are available on request.
